What we have for you today is the first ever gameplay video for Code Lyoko. The game itself has a battle system
that will let players use a wide variety of skills like shooting,
puzzle solving, fighting, and even exploration. Well, with this video,
we learned that we should add another one to that list: racing. This Neko Entertainment-developed and The Game Factory-published title is looking good with every update; here's hoping it lives up to its hype.
Anyway, here's a piece of trivia about Code Lyoko. It was originally a television animated series (currently on-going) in France. The show is about students Aelita, Jeremie, Odd, Ulrich, and Yumi and their adventures inside a supercomputer housing the virtual world of Lyoko. Code Lyoko is expected to become available during Q4 2007. |

Ah, Code Lyoko.
Most "hardcore" gamers usually tend to shy away from games based on
movie or TV properties, but hey, experimentation's not such a bad
thing. Especially when you're in college, if you know what we mean.
Anyway, if the gameplay videos weren't enough for you guys, here are 14 more screenshots from the Nintendo DS version of Code Lyoko. Check 'em out.
Based on the French 3D action/adventure TV series, Code Lyoko is an adventure game/RPG that features a group of students who uncover a parallel universe called Lyoko. Parallel universes are always cool, but the problem is that this one's inside a super-computer that is threatened by a virus that could destroy the universe. It's up to Jeremy, Odd, Ulrich and Yumi to help a virtual humanoid creature named Aelita to stop rogue computer XANA's latest attack on their real world. Code Lyoko from Game Factory is slated for a May release in the U.S. More screenshots after the jump! |

Ever dreamed of going to an virtual world/alternate reality? Though the idea just screams escapism, a number of game and cartoon titles feature that sort of premise: Digimon, the new PSP title Crush, and Code Lyoko. Code Lyoko is a French animated series that is about to be ported both to the Wii and the DS. The Game Factory has released another batch of screens for the DS version.
Code Lyoko centers on the adventures a group of classmates undergo to foil Xana's evil plans: Aelita, Ulrich, Yumi, Odd, and Jeremie. They go into the virtual world called Lyoko which is divided into five sectors. In the screenshots (along with the previous ones), we get a preview of Lyoko's sectors: Mountain, Forest, Ice Barrier, Desert, and Carthage. Plus we also get a sneak peak of the grounds and locations of Kadic Junior High School. Release is still tagged under "yet to be announced" so you can just check out the screens for the meantime. For more updates on Code Lyoko, stay glued.

If you can't beat the announcements of Square and Sony, the least you can do is announce something undeniably cute that someone might notice. That's what Game Factory had in mind when they announced their line up of games for the third and fourth quarter of the year. For Games Factory, its all about the games for the little critters. So they've got a couple of cartoon friends for the young ones to play with. For the Nintendo DS, they are releasing Cartoon Network Racing, Code Lyoko, Garfield 2, Strawberry Shortcake Strawberry Land Games and Strawberry Shortcake Adventures in the Land of Dreams. For the PSP, they will have Legend of the Dragon. The basic premise of these games is to take the players into the world of the cartoons. The gameplays of the games are quite menial and nothing entirely spectacular, nonetheless, they are still fun to play with, especially on those long road trips. They're there to remind you how loony and fun these characters are. Cartoon Network Racing lets you race Blossom and Johnny Bravo down Dexter's Lab. Code Lyoko will let you solve some puzzles in Lyoko's World. Garfield will dance around in London. While Strawberry Shortcake has tons of mini-games in store. On the other hand, their PSP title, Legend of the Dragon, is a Western game trying to be an Asian game. Taking cell-shaded animation as its graphic appeal, you try to battle it out against people who are out to get the seal of the temple. It's your typical fighting game meshed with a bit of Chinese Zodiac spirituality. Games Factory's lineup looks promising but their titles might not be strong enough for the giants. Then again, their games might just appeal to a child who wants play a carefree game. Nonetheless, the titles look wacky enough to help you through a boring day. Well, isn't that what a game is all about? |
