Looks like Chocobo's flying to Europe as well. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales will hit the shelves in April 3 in North America and May in Europe.Square Enix' Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales revolves around a chocobo's adventure. What else? Defeat the evil villain, Darkmaster Bebuzzu and save the day. The game features a Pop-Up Duel Card battle system and will have players going through more than 40 minigames. According to Square Enix' president and CEO, John Yamamoto, players - either an old fan or new - will have fun with this title. Mark your calendars. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales is set to take over the world, err... save the world. Even though the Square Enix is yet to set a definitive release date (read: exact) for Europe, we're sure that the confirmation atleast got some players humming happy tunes. |

Yes, after all the rumors and speculations (and painful finger-crossing), Square Enix has confirmed that Chocobo Tales will be heading to North American shores under the title Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales.Well, we've known the game's U.S. title for quite some time now, but it's only today that Square Enix put a definitive date on when the game will hit the shelves. Taking trademark characters from the Final Fantasy franchise, and use of the handheld's touch screen functionality, Hashimoto remains positive that Chocobo Tales will sell like chicken strips with gravy. Rated E by ESRB, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales is set to fly out of the nest on April 3rd, and will sell for the suggested retail price of US$ 29.99. |

The teaser site for Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales was opened up a month back. Today, with a flurry of yellow feathers and a maddening barrage of Kwark!-Kwark!-singing birds, the official Square Enix site for the game has been opened. The pages have flipped open, and now the site has revealed their sections for the Story, Characters, Game, and Downloads. You can view a couple of screenshots and read up on the backstory of the game. There are also a couple of wallpapers that you can get, and while some sections of the site still aren't accessible, you can bet your last Phoenix Down feather that we'll update you guys. For now, click the "Read" link below to open the book of fables, and umm, read more of the game. |

Brave little Chocobo faces big bad monster in Chocobo Tales/to Mahou no Ehon, children. But Chocobo is very, very brave. With a big cry of "Waaark!" (or "Kweh!", depending on your persuasion), he pulls out... a Poke-ball? No he doesn't choose you, Pikachu, but forgive us if the battle system for Square-Enix's Chocobo Tales might have borne a very slight similarity to Nintendo/GameFreaks' staple franchise to us; it's on the DS, after all.
Similar to the early Final Fantasies, Chocobo and his opponent attack by summoning various creatures from the Final Fantasy bestiary (one prominent example being the Bombs), where they will conduct some of their signature moves. Like the earlier Final Fantasies, though, the summons persist only for the attack. It's not known if the summons will confer additional defensive bonuses to their summoner (which would have been useful as poor little Chocobo is redlined in this GameTrailers gameplay, and barely manages to scratch out a victory). Additionally, because our resident translator is out for today, we wished we could have had help translating the in-game dialogue boxes. Oh, and one other thing. Poor little Chocobo, ba-Bombed and fried out of his HP. This writer has now contacted the RSPCA to hound and punish all those who would choose to hurt poor little Chocobo like so. But wailing on Safer-Sephiroth is still not considered a crime against persons, even by Amnesty International. Hmm, imagine a Sephiroth summon. Will poor little Chocobo survive Meteor? |

Yesterday, we told you about the possibility of a U.S. release for the lovable Nintendo DS game, Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon. We mentioned that it would be released to the North American market under the name, Final Fantasy Fables Chocobo Tales. Aside from that, we also told you that nothing official has been said by Square Enix about this matter. This tidbit we got for y'all could be the official word we are waiting for. Just recently, the teaser site for Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales has gone up. In it, you will find that the game would have an April 2007 release date. Aside from that small info, you would be treated to some cutesy music and some Chocobo feathers (you'll know what I mean when you visit the site). Anyhow, our read link below will take you to the simple, yet endearing teaser site. |

We bet that a lot of you were enamored, maybe even a bit jealous, when you saw how Japan welcomed Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon with arms wide open during its December 14 launch. We mentioned every time we report about it that the Final Fantasy mascot-focused game might not ever step into foreign shores. Sigh, I sure wanna make my Chocobo climb a beanstalk or something. But let's not lose hope. Siliconera reports that Square-Enix is bringing the game to U.S. shores under a new name. Apparently, the US version is titled Final Fantasy Fables Chocobo Tales and the release date has not been announced. There has not been any official word from Squeenix about this matter, but will keep you posted about this game's developments. Hopefully, everything goes as planned so as more people will be able to have some good and clean Chocobo fun. |

Yes, once again, we are unabashedly salivating over game-related merchandise, and we just can't seem to help it, especially with something as sugary-cute as Square Enix's Chocobo to Manou no Ehon (a.k.a. Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book). After the game's Japanese launch just last December 14, we've already expected that the influx of Chocobo-related merchandise would have been inevitable. What we didn't expect was that it would be this cute and that we would, once again, want it so bad. I mean, just look at it... those big, vacant eyes... the stubby wings and feet... you could almost hear it go "kweh!" if you look at it long enough. Have we ever mentioned that most of us here are suckers for Squeenix? So, can anyone spare us US$ 25.00 for this thing? Please? |

On to the lighter, cuter, yellower side of things, we're giving you guys a peek at how the Japanese would celebrate the entry of Square Enix's latest Chocobo title into the market. Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon just got released in Japan today (December 14), and it caused waves of smothering cuteness among its fans. As to how that life-sized Chocobo mascot was able to sneak past the crowds with its feathers unruffled, we don't know. We're just glad that the Elebits incident didn't repeat itself. If you check out the pics from the launch, notice that they were also giving away Chocobo-themed Nintendo DS sleeves for those who purchased the game. How's that for a bargain? Sadly, this invasion in Japan might only stay in Japan. There hasn't been any updates yet as to when this game will be released for the Western market, much less if it ever will. |

If Dragon Quest's got its Slime mascot, Final Fantasy's got the chocobo. You'll know a chocobo if you see one: yellow feathers, big eyes, orange beak, goes "kwark-kwark!" If still you don't know what a chocobo looks like, you might as well throw yourself off the nearest air blimp into the gaping mouth of a waiting Marlboro.
After going through mysterious chocobo dungeons and having chocobo races (ooh, old school rocks!), Square Enix's new title in the chocobo series heads for the DS with Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon. There's not much known about the game as of yet, except that the story revolves around Chocobo and his adventures in a magical picture book. Good thing we've got this video that shows a couple of clips from the game. It looks like there's going to be tons of mini-games here, including cameos of other iconic characters from the Final Fantasy universe. Let's play "I Spy," shall we? I spy a white mage and black mage, a coiling Leviathan and paper-cut Bahamut and a... Oh, just watch it! |

Don’t we love mini-games? Well, Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon got something more for those who love to share their PSP games with their friends. In this update, we see one of the minigames available in the game. In this mini-game, you will find a chamber with different burning coins. There will be a water spring where you can get water to splash on the coins. Once the flames have been diffused, you have to grab the coin. If you get all the coins, you win the game. You can also play this in multiplayer mode and you can challenge a mate to a speedy battle on who can get the most coins. It’s a fun little game with our yellow feathered friend. Hopefully, there’s more cute games in store for us in this chocobo game. |
