Originally a children's book by E. B. White, "Charlotte's Web" has been spun into a 1973 animated, musical film and an upcoming live-action/computer-animated feature film. Listed by Publishers Weekly as the best-selling children's paperback of all time, it features the unconventional friendship between Charlotte, a spider, and a pig named Wilbur. Now, Charlotte's Web has been transformed into a multi-platform video game from SEGA of America. Already on its way to retail outlets across the U.S., Charlotte's Web for the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance gives the iconic story an interactive twist. In Charlotte's Web, gamers explore four fascinating worlds filled with challenging missions to complete. It also features arcade-style mini-games while playing as Wilbur the pig and Templeton the rat in the DS and GBA games. One of the games will send players on a sweeping scavenger hunt to find letters. When all letters have been collected, they are woven into Charlotte's web proclaim to the world that Wilbur is an amazing pig. Both versions are loaded with mini-games hidden throughout the multiple levels. Charlotte's Web will also be available as a PC-game and later as a downloadable game on mobile phones via all major cell phone carriers. The PC game is packed with numerous individual games including Petting Pen where players can take care for Wilbur. |

There hasn't been too much news lately for Charlotte's Web for the DS even after the announcement of its release, but it looks like game developer Sega's decided to break that silence, as they recently announced that child actor Dominic Scott Kay will be voicing over Wilbur the pig in this upcoming DS title.Dominic, who also starred as the voice role of Wilbur in the recent movie adaptation of this timeless children's classic, was very excited regarding the game's release. "I love videogames and I'm really excited to have my voice in Charlotte's Web,", he said, and added "I think it is so cool that the first game I've ever worked on is based on a story that everyone loves. I can't wait for it to come out so that I can play it with my friends and family." Charlotte's Web lets the player take control of either Wilbur the pig, or Templeton the rat, as they explore all the areas in the game reminiscent of E.B. White's settings, as the game's interactivity adds a new level of interactivity to children's story. The movie's due for release this December, so we recommend seeing (and playing) both for effect. |

For the "Charlotte's Web" fans out there, you might know that there's a movie coming out (starring Dakota Fanning as Fern and Julia Roberts as the voice of Charlotte). It seems like E.B. White is working up quite a stir once again. And what better way to bump up the movie than by coming out with an accompanying game? Charlotte's Web (Sega) is oinking its snout onto the DS early next year. You're going to be able to control Wilbur ("Some pig...") or Templeton and explore familiar places from the book and upcoming movie like the Zuckerman farm, the barn house, and even the county fair. It's going to be a series of scavenger hunts and mini-games to help Charlotte gather words that she could weave into her web. There's even going to be a feature where you can control Fern and take care of Wilbur in some sort of pet-simulator mode, just like Nintendogs. Here's some screenshots, with more after behind the jump! |

Well, it looks like Charlotte's Web
is making a comeback with the upcoming live action remake of the
classic movie. And then there's also the much-anticipated game version
that will be hitting the Nintendo DS at around the same time as the
movie's release.
In the game, Charlotte's Web, players will be sent on sweeping scavenger hunts for letters that make up special phrases. When woven into Charlotte's web, these phrases will let the world know just how special Wilbur is. Interesting, huh? The Nintendo DS version contains numerous extras that maximize the handheld's unique capabilities including stylus support and wireless multiplayer for up to four players. An additional, unlockable mini-game, where gamers can play as Fern and care for Wilbur is also waiting to be discovered. If you can't tell already the game is aimed toward the little ones that will want to see the movie, you can still go ahead and check out the full article to see all the screenshots or check out a few by clicking on the thumbnails below. |

The Nintendo DS version contains numerous extras that maximize the handheld's unique capabilities; including stylus support and wireless multiplayer for up to four players.
