Despite criticisms that Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, DS) isn't as good as its predecessor Modern Warfare (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), Treyarch should still be happy with this outcome - the fifth installment to the Call of Duty franchise has sold over 11 million units since its launch back in November 2008.

Treyarch has released the second map pack for Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, DS) earlier, just in time for the Double XP Weekend that ends 10AM PST on Tuesday. As an additional incentive to go and get the US$ 9.99 download, the devs themselves will be gearing for battle and you can pit your skills against the masterminds that brought you the new map pack.

Because of the online success of Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS), Activision is handing out gifts for all you CoD fans: Nazi zombies and double EXP for this weekend! Call of Duty: World at War is still top gun in the UK. So far, nothing's been able to knock it off the top of the software charts since it entered last month. Resistance 2, on the other hand, is only on its second week in the regions and has already fallen to 20th place.

Other notables for that week are Need for Speed: Undercover which debuted at a respectable fourth place and Wrath of the Lich King eating a 32-place crit and dropping to 34th.

After hearing the story of the Swede teen collapsing after 24 hours of playing Wrath of the Lich King, this news comes to no surprise for me. World of Warcraft's second expansion pack has sliced its way to second place in the UK charts, topped only by fellow newcomer, Call of Duty: World at War. In other news, LittleBigPlanet shot down form fourth place to 19th place. Ouch.

Doug Creutz with Cowen and Company believe, through their research note that Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS) will sell 5.5 million copies during its lifetime in the US. Good news or bad? Apparently, this is a 32.4% year-on-year decline from Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare (PS3, Xbox 360, PC).
