bang! - Image 1bang! - Image 2

This classic from Hudson Soft is still at it with all new screenshots. Released for the DS in North America on November 20 of last year, Bomberman Land Touch is still sporting its fresh puzzle-games approach.

Yep, this ain't the regular drop-'em-bombs-and-scoot-to-safety version. So, for you all pyromaniacs out there, if you think it's just about firing up some craters for some hidden goodies, sorry, but you'll have to exert a little more effort than just that. So, for all of you who have yet to grab a copy of these, and for those who just got their DS handhelds fresh off your holiday stash, here are the screenies for your viewing pleasure. And maybe, you'd like it enough to get a copy, eh?

Somebody set up us THE BOMB!!!

If you're a gamer with a girlfriend (and if she's a gamer, too, lucky you), most times you can never go wrong giving the gift of a warm and fuzzy plush to her. That, or budget-depleting jewelry. As a for-example, you've got rabbid plushies, you've got chocobo plushies. But if your GF happens to be the bomb (or bomb diggity), perhaps the best (or most appropriate) plush to give her is the bomb. Not even Bomberman himself (which, in his old-school iteration, would make a fine sock doll himself), but his bombs.

Spotted by GameBrink, Banpresto is making these Bomberman-themed Bomberman Bakuhatu Plushies available via pre-order in Japan, to be shipped in mid-to-late June 2007. Yes, we know, a full six months wait, as though there's a plutonium core to be installed in this thing... Nah, no nukes, just a sound-chip that lovingly recreates the trademark "BOOMB!" and "POM!" sound effects of the Bomberman games. They come in black and red, about the size of a small ball, and cost US$ 19.00 (yes, we know, Japan preorder, American pricing; perhaps an indicator that they'll also make this preorder available in the US someday...).

If you're wondering, "Bakuhatu" means "Explode". Hopefully the explosion you hear from your girlfriend is one of adoration for receiving something oddly cute, instead of an explosion of anger for not getting her a diamond necklace or something like that (And, we can imagine,  if you're taking this with you in a flight, you might want to tell security that this is a toy, just to be sure).

It won't be another month more before we get a real taste of Bomberman Land Touch adventure, courtesy of Hudson Soft. DS gamers who've been wanting to learn more about the game and maybe surf the English version of the website can now check it out, as Atlus U.S.A. Inc. has just announced that it's now up and running, with a lot of features to boot.

The site lets you surf using the stylus, simulating a real one on the DS. You can find tabs where Character, Modes, Areas, Nintendo DS Features, Interview (with game designer and director Gen Suzuki), Trailer, Download, and Message Board can be found. The game allows for 8-player action using only one DS Card, and 4 players using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection feature. Here, the first Bomberman Battle Pack contains all the classic multiplayer modes, along with more than 30 challenging mini-games.

The stylus lets you control everything: menus, the field, attractions. Bomberman's speed and direction will depend on your stylus touch and you can also speak with a person by touching the icon above him. Sounds neat!

All the adventure happens in the pirate-themed Bomberman Island Park. You beat all the challenges to become Pirate King with Cheerful White and his friends tagging along. The game gets shipped to North America on November 7.

Atlus has released new screenshots of the upcoming game Bomberman Land Touch! It will feature an awesome array of multiplayer options as well as a large single-player adventure. Up to eight players will be able to play on one card, while four players can play together using the Nintendo WiFi Connection. The last Bomberman game didn't have any online play but was a blast in multiplayer, so you might consider this as another addition to your multiplayer library. It's set to be released November 2006 and rated E10+. Click Full Story for the rest of the screenies.

Nothing expresses excitement for bombings better than a "!". It's a good thing to know, since another family-friendly bomber (aside from the Blue Bomber, Megaman) is coming to the DS, exclamation points included.

Bomberman is Back!
For the DS!
With Exclamation Points Galore!

Hudson Soft's latest game in the long-running series, Bomberman Land Touch!, features a ton of gameplay options as well as the beloved multiplayer option. Not as exciting as playing a console version on a giant movie screen, perhaps, but still worthy of the exclamation point of explosive goodness.

Here's the latest screenshot from Hudson Soft's site and, in the meantime, keep checking QJ for news on beloved bombers. Who knows? Jack Thompson may just sue Hudson Soft for promoting terrorism as a family-friendly game, or for using exclamation points for evil purposes...

We have five new screenshots from Bomberman Land for the Nintendo DS. The upcoming Bomberman game will feature WiFi play for up to four players! This is a first for handheld Bomberman games. The last online Bomberman title was for the Sega Dreamcast. This newest edition seems to feature classic Bomberman games as well as minigames like the ones found in the Mario Party series. The single player mode also looks like it has some adventuring aspects.
