Sega has announced that a new Bleach game will be headed to North American Nintendo DS units this summer. The game's called Bleach: Dark Souls, and it appears to allow users to play as members of the Hollow! More on this game after the jump!

Bleach DS 2nd, the 2D fighting game, showed off its kicks and chops at the ongoing TGS. Featuring the cast of wild characters from the popular anime and manga, the DS game features Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection. Up to four gamers can connect over the internet via wi-fi and play against each other. The game includes story mode, arcade mode, VS mode, training mode and challenge mode.

The Bleach franchise will also be doing its fancy martial arts moves on the upcoming Wii. But for now, check out the DS title in full action at the TGS.

Bleach DS 2nd will be released in 4Q 2006 in Japan.

If you still haven't caught on with the whole Bleach craze, no worries. The anime series just came out at Adult Swim just a few days ago. So, if you want to follow the trials of Ichigo Kurosaki, better hit yourself up with the schedule. For those of you, on the other hand, who have been fortunate enough to have started watching already and are now avid fans, you can wait just a few more months for the video games by Sega.

There's one coming out for the Wii, but what we have today for you is the trailer for the DS game, Bleach DS 2nd. It's a hack-and-slash, playable with four gamers taking a shot at each other. There will also be a mode where you could battle the hollows (those weird black ghost thingamajigs). Of course there's still going to be a story mode, where players will experience being in the Soul Society. How's that for a Yu Yu Hakusho come back?

Battling phantoms, soul reapers, and undead societies? We wouldn't mind at all...

A translated interview at NeoGAF gives us some more details on Bleach DS 2nd. The game will see a huge improvement to the online system, or at least that's what the developers are going for. Also, they are increasing the number of cards, or reifus, that you can use to four. They're giving that system a complete overhaul as well seeing as some felt that a few cards were overpowered.

The original characters will also receive some tweaking. The new characters, two of which are confirmed to be Urahara and Ikkaku, will also be as balanced as they can make it. It looks like they'll be listening to player feedback!

The game is looking to be more and more interesting. It is, after all, the famed developers at Treasure. The story arc that this game will be based on wasn't too shabby either. Hopefully the filler ends so we can see the next game based on the actual storyline and not this vampire stuff.
