It's been a very long time since we heard anything from Alekmaul, which is why we're happy to report that the developer's back in action with a new build for AmEDS. For the guys tuning in for the first time, this DS homebrew is an emulator that will let your Nintendo handheld play games originally meant for the Amstrad CPC 6128 Computer. AmEDS version 2.0 carries these new features from version 1.1:

Alekmaul must be building a rep for resurrecting the past. First with the MarcaDS classic arcade emulator, then with the ColecoDS ColecoVision emulator, and now the Amstrad CPC 464 micro-computer with the AmEDS. This one's just like the equivalent CrocoDS Amstrad emulator, which Alekmaul also acknowledges as instrumental in his own little project.Anyway, for a time warp into an age of bad hair and great music, just hit the DL link below. Speaking of music... v1.1 improves on the original by adding SOUND. Besides that, this

AmEDS v1.0 is a homebrew emulator for the Amstrad CPC 6128 Computer, which came out in 1984. The initial release by French dev Alekmaul features "most things you should expect from an emulator" except for the sound. To install AmEDS v1.0, unzip it in a AMEDS directory. Or if you prefer to use FlashCards, such as Neoflash, unzip all files in a directory. Put the DSK and SNA files in the directory. Then, execute the makeameds.bat file to create AmEDS.ds.gba and AmEDS.nds. You can also use AmEDS v1.0 with M3, GBAMP, MK2, MK3, G6, and Ninja DS. Unzip AmEDS.ndsin a AMEDS directory in the root directory on the FlashCard, SD or MMC card. Make sure the directory is in the root directory. Put the SNA or DSK files in this directory. When the emulator starts, click on the disks to choose a file using Up/Down. Use A to load it. SNA files will run automatically. Please read the readme file for the complete details on how to use AmeDS v1.0 and where you can get the DSK file which is not included in the download file. Download: [AmEDS v1.0] |

Donning one of the most bizarre names we've ever encountered among coders, My Ketchup Is Dead has once again updated his Amstrad CPC homebrew emulator, CrocoDS Alpha. The list of changes for this version is pretty long, looks like someone's been working over the holidays, eh? So anyway, if this is your first time to encounter this, it emulates Amstrad CPC, the nifty wonder that peaked in popularity way back in the 80's. That said, here's the list of stuff that's changed in v0.5a: Changelog:

redbug is back with the latest update to his Amstrad CPC 6128 emulator for Nintendo DS. In CrocoDS Alpha v0.4a redbug gives us this Google- translated changelog:
Cybernoid 2. The sequel to Cybernoid (duh), this shooter'sgameplayinvolved hunting space pirates and retrieving their stolen booty within a specified time limit. Shooting pirate ships often leaves power-ups or jewels which Cybernoid can collect. Turrican. The game featured huge detailed labyrinth levels that must be fully explored and secret spots, hidden rooms and invisible passages are waiting to be revealed. The game has been described as a hybrid of Metroid and Psycho-Nics Oscar. Crafton&Xunk (aka Get Dexter). A French puzzler in a sci-fi setting. The two characters must make their away through a maze. One fan called it "funny, very funny" and "innovative with great animation, wacky, strange and wild." Download: [CrocoDS Alpha v0.4a] |

Molly Ringwald. Cyndi Lauper. Duran Duran. Journey! -- Aaaah. The 80's. It was a generation of bad haircuts and an equally bad fashion sense (fishnet stockings, anyone?). But nonetheless, it was the era that brought us the wonder that was Amstrad CPC.But before we get time warped to that fun generation, let's not get too off track here. I only used that intro because we have in our hands right now a CPC 6128 emulator for the DS, My Ketchup Is Dead's CrocoDS Alpha v0.2a. If you guys had fun using CrocoDS Alpha v0.1a, then you'll be glad to know that redbug (yep, that's his name, not My Ketchup Is Dead. Apologies for any confusion.) has updated his clever emulator to v0.2a. Changelog:

CrocoDS Alpha v0.1a allows the loading of files SNA and DSK in the root of the GBA cartridge (use of the LIBFAT of picodriveds) while pressing the Select button. Pressing R starts again the emulator. Pressing L switches between the emulation joystick and keypad. The developer is working to replace "the core Z80 out of C by a version asm (I think of directing myself towards the bookshop DrZ80 Reesy to create for MAME), to add the support of the zippées images." The bitmap of the keyboard is temporary. This is where our limited French comes to an end. Download: [CrocoDS Alpha v0.1a] |
