Freedom Wings is a fun and challenging flight sim shooter coming to the DS in late July. It allows players to use the stylus to pan the camera and the D-pad to control the plane, whether or not this control scheme will fail is yet to be determined. Today we're bringing you 18 new screens for this title. There's very little information on it, but as soon as some becomes available you can bet we'll cover it.

We told you previously that Top Gun, the classic movie starring our favorite Scientologist nutter, was coming to the DS, and today we have a couple more details and a few screenshots for your enjoyment.

The game offers some thrilling missions and some multiplayer fun. You can choose between the story mode or free flight mode, taking missions over USA, Asia, or Siberia. According to a preview, it's difficult to keep the planes inside of the invisible borders, especially during high-speed evasive maneuvers. Top Gun, while nothing original, should bring us some entertaining game play and decent multiplayer dogfights. Be sure to pick up a copy when it comes out in a few days.

Game companies love making games out of movies. In fact, almost every single animated movie has a game to go with it. It's obvious that these games sell regardless of how incredibly dull and pointless the game is.

Over the Hedge is different as it offers some interesting level design and gameplay, even though it's a game based on the upcoming Dreamworks movie. In Over the Hedge you assume the roll of RJ, Verne, Hammy, and Stella, and explore a neighborhood filled with traps and other obstacles.

Konductra is a new and original puzzle game for the DS. We're here to bring you a glance at this upcoming title with 11 screenshots. The goal is to place and remove colored tiles by grouping them and then chaining them together with conductors on the edges of the screen. Once you have a few chains of colors that go across the screen, you can use the stylus to draw a line from one conductor to another and if you keep it held down, you can go from one color to another by moving to another conductor.

It might sound difficult, but seeing it in action makes it so much easier to explain. Simply put, you place the blocks down and clear them out, but you want to create as long of a chain as possible to get as many points as possible.

The homebrew scene is alive and kicking and today we bring you a promising DS puzzle shooter from Dumbstart. The rules are simple: You can only score by shooting the topmost block and points only count when the other two blocks are moving. To make the blocks move or stop you shoot them. Right now the game is untitled and is available for the DS and GBA.

The graphics are fairly simple but it looks like it could be a great and challenging game. It's currently a work in progress and we'll update you on anything new. Once development rolls along we're sure it'll get a better name than 'shoot.nds', kudos to the developer giving us a chance to see his new project.

Want to check your email on your NDS? Well, now you can! It's about time the NDS gets some sweet homebrew apps, thanks to Bronto. This program will allow you to send and receive email on your Nintendo DS. The application is only a preview version, so expect some bugs. The coder is still working on it but was kind enough to release a preview version for us all to play with.

"In the beginning it was not working at all on any nds other than mine, but I fixed it. Turned out the problem was in the ARM7 core. The FIFO buffers where not set up properly. Tomorrow I will try to find out why it crashes for some people at "Retrieving message headers" or "Closing connection". If you want to send me a mail to my NDS: ndstest@NOSPAMPLEASEbronto-online.de. Of course you remove the NOSPAMPLEASE part first :) SMTP is not implemented tho, so I won't be able to reply."

From looking at the screenshots, the program looks pretty complete and robust. Toss away your Blackberry and cancel the plan, use your NDS for email.
