Ó

GhostbustersYes, Ghostbusters the game is very real. This is according to the ZootFly website, which also stated that the game is already up and running on Xbox 360 hardware.

There's a catch, though: ZootFly is currently facing a wall in the form of licensing issues. The developer is "working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP," and as soon as this hurdle is cleared, ZootFly promises to start working on the Ghostbusters game right away.

ZootFly isn't just waiting around for the whole Ghostbusters IP issue to be resolved, too. The developer is working on an original game called Time0, which according to them is "closely related to Ghostbusters". Here's what the developer website had to say about Time0:

The game follows the adventures of two die-hard New Yorkers. They get trapped deep in the shadow world of a parallel New York. The city itself is a war machine threatening to wipe out our world and they have three days to stop it.

We'll bring you more updates on this game as soon as more details surface, so keep checking back here on QJ.

 » Ressurection of Ghostbusters?

Could this be the final step to possibly getting the third movie made?

It's not like interested parties didnt want to do a GB3... but Bill Murray has always been against it... maybe it'll become a 3D movie... like the new TMNT?

 » Licensing Issues

It seems odd they'd release footage while they're in the middle of a license dispute. I wonder if it was released deliberately to gauge interest levels or to light a fire under the people holding out on the license agreement. A bit like when Core Design released footage of their cancelled Tomb Raider 1 remake for the PSP.

 » me thinks so too

That is what I was thinking! They probably did leak these videos to stir up some talk on the internet, to show that this could be a big cash cow. I know I would buy it.

 » I see this on the PS3.

I could see Sony Making sure this is only a PS3 game because they own the IP rights. Other movies Sony has made where IPs they payed to work on. Like they Payed Marvel to allow them to make the Movie and that is why Sony did not make the game because they do not own the Rights to Spiderman and seeing as Ghostbusters was made by Sony it will only be on the PS3. So Sony will pay some good money to ZootFly to Finish the game but bring it to the PS3 instead.

 » ps3

Sony does own the picture company yes. but it does eventually lie with the devoleper to decide what platform it goes to (GTA4 to PS3 and 360 instead of just PS3 now). Personally i see this being just for the next-gen systems. PS3, 360, Wii, and PC.

» WTF, the real logic here is that

you cannot make a game if the movie company does not give you the rights to make one. So you really think that Sony would allow ZootFly to make a game based on a movie they own the rights too and make it only for their competitor, you are out of your mind. Besides no where in the article did I see 360 game only.....

movie rights and IP (intellect property) are two different things, im not sure who owns the IP but i wouldnt be too surprised if it wasnt sony

 » Only interested IF:

If the game is based on either:
a) The movies (with character likenesses, etc.)
b) The cartoon series :)

If it's non-canon to either, then it's a non-purchase.

I hate how the Ecto-1 is a friggin Cadillac lookin beast *nothing like the old car , which was way better* and the fact that their "Proton Packs" are Huge and look like something Azul the Cerulean used in Dirge of Cerberus. I mean c'mon, Stay true to the series in some form, like Original Proton packs n'such.
