Shigeru Miyamoto - Image 1Nintendo's been pretty quiet lately. Oh sure, they announced Pikmin, the DSi, and GameCube ports, but nothing really... new. Just more of the old stuff with a new layer of shine. Have Miyamoto and Iwata decided to take a break and swim in their money pool?

Naw, it's just the calm before the storm. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, a lot of games for loyal Nintendo fans are in development:

For 30 years now I've been making games and for the vast majority of time I've been making the type of games that the loyal Nintendo fans enjoy.

Those are the types of games that my career is based on and we're going to continue to make those types of games. In fact, we have many of those types of games in development right now.

If you remember, he said as much back in E3, saying that Zelda and Mario games for the Wii are already in development, and a new Zelda game is headed for the DS. Unfortunately, he also said that we probably won't see these games for two to three more years.

Fortunately, between now and then we have MadWorld and The Conduit to look forward to. Not what loyal Nintendo fans might enjoy, but certainly what a lot of Wii owners fed up with Mario games would like to have in their library.
