Nintendo: we're on top of a lot of Christmas lists - Image 1While Sony's struggling to make ends meet, Nintendo's still raking in the moolah, big time. Last Thanksgiving, they sold 800,000 Wii consoles in North America alone. This amount is way more than double the 350,000 they sold during the same period last year.

The DS also experienced a lift in sales during Thanksgiving. Sales were up 20% in the US as compared to last year.

Following that, here's some wisdom on the economy from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata:

When the economy is strong, people tend to buy three things from the top of their wish list. But when things are bad, people often buy only the first thing on their list

And the secret to surviving the economic crisis? Just invent the Wii. Oh, wait, that's been done.

Fortunately for us a lot of shoppers put our products at the top of their list.

If Thanksgiving was able to do so much for Nintendo, Santa's going to have a rough time this Christmas.
