Halo 3 isn't the only game to sport super human space marines. THQ packs these space marines by the squadrons in their upcoming turn-based strategy game based on the Warhammer 40k series, Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command, for the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP.

The game features two Space Marine Chapters against two squads from the Legions of Chaos in up to 15 single-player missions and 9 multiplayer maps. The single-player campaign gives you control over the Imperium's Ultramarine squad, as they stave off the Legions of Chaos in 15 missions.

The trailer definitely encompasses the mythology of the Warhammer 40k series very well, with the never ending enmity of the Marines and Chaos as the focal point of the story. It plays up the role of both sides of the Space Marines and the Legions of Chaos and gives justice to the game's table top origins as well as its other spin-offs.

Players and fans of the series can expect the game to hit the shelves this November 16 on both handheld platforms. Until then enjoy watching this very engaging trailer of these interstellar warriors in action.

Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command - Image 1Almost two months ago, THQ announced that it will be releasing Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command on the Sony PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo DS handheld gaming systems. Now it's RedLynx's turn with the announcements.

The Helsinki-based company has just announced that it will be developing the new handheld title. The RedLynx team has apparently made sure that the game will take advantage of the platforms' capabilities, and is currently hard at work finalizing Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command for its release this year.

Set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, this turn-based strategy game boasts fully destructible 3D environments and over 20 different weapons available for players to inflict some damage with. Both the DS and PSP versions offer multiplayer support where gamers can go head to head against each other in 9 unique missions.

Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command - Image 1

A brutal, war-ravaged world filled with people fighting to dominate over their enemies on our handheld? Yes please! Imagine our surprise when we found out that THQ was granting our wish, making those dreams of portable conquest come to life.

THQ's just announced Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command, a strategy game for the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS. There's currently no information on whether it's a real-time strategy game or a turn-based type, but we do have word on the many features you can expect on it, at least for the PSP version:
  • Compelling single player game consisting of 13 unique missions
  • 9 unique multiplayer maps for Local or Global games, with small, medium and large map variants to cater for games from 2 to 8 players
  • Fully destructible, real time 3D battlefields mean that no two games will be the same
  • Pick from two Space Marine chapters or two Chaos Space Marine Legions to play as in Multiplayer games, in battles between Imperium vs. Imperium, Forces of Chaos vs. Forces of Chaos, or Imperium vs. Forces of Chaos
  • Over 20 ranged and close combat weapons taken directly from the Warhammer 40,000 universe, including the Bolter, Plasma Gun, Chainsword and Power Fist
As you can guess, not a lot of info yet on the DS version, though THQ has confirmed that one will be made. In the meantime, why not feast over these just-released screenshots of the game, alright?
