The Half Broken Crown - Image 1Fantasy author Darren Reid is spinning tales again, but this time, paper isn't his medium. Reid has entered a collaborative project with NexGenBooks to bring to life a spin off of his soon to be released novel "The Half Broken Crown."

The game, fully titled as The Half Broken Crown: The Broken Kingdoms, is going to be a first-person MMORPG that will have a unique gameplay style that's rewarding to solve when playing in a group. Players must think as a unit and cooperate in order to pass areas and clear objectives.

The game will launch in June as free download (with optional microtransactions) on NextGenBooks.com, with individual web-based versions for the Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, the PC, Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. Shown here are some of the early screens of the game. The developers didn't say exactly at what platform they were taken from.

"Of all my upcoming projects this is perhaps the one I am most excited about," says Reid. "It is a unique opportunity for me to expand upon the [upcoming] book and to tell new stories."

 » ok not so much

ok not so much after reading up on it more it sounds like a slightly larger version of darkthrone or kings of chaos
"So how does the game work? The game is structured around a number of still scenes and images (animations were not developed due to limitations of some handheld consoles etc) which act as puzzle elements. For instance, one of the first scenes you will encounter is a market place in an abandoned city. Hovering your mouse over certain areas will reveal objects or path ways can be selected or manipulated. So you might find a locked door which requires key to open. The key might be hidden away in some obscure place or require you to solve a puzzle to gain access to it. The bottom half of your browser will be reserved for the chat and community features which will allow you, when stuck, to contact other players and ask for advice and assistance. The community features will allow 'buddy lists' to be created so that players can continue to play new quests together when and as they appear."

 » Hmm....

I'm not into exactly into these sort of games, but...

I had to say this...

Doesn't the box art look... Sort
of like a rip off of a certain... Final Fantasy VII?

Just think it looks a little similar...
