Everyone's favourite yellow sponge soon embarks on another portable adventure with the DS version of Spongebob Squarepants: Creature From The Krusty Krab. Players help Spongebob through nine visually unique levels, where they will stumble upon the five new gameplay aspects of Krusty Krab and they are the following:

• Rampaging through Bikini Bottom as gigantic plankton
• Flying through the dangerous jaw of of the enormous bull worm as Spongebob
  
• Surviving a hi-speed asteroid field as Patrick in outer space
  
• Becoming the hero of the seven seas as Starfishman
  
• Experiencing the energetic, smoke-filled world of Hot Rod racing.

The Leipzig Games Convention (LGC) is here! The Developer Conference opens today, August 21, with a record-breaking participation of more than 600 visitors. The LGC starts August 21 if you're a game developer, August 23 if you're a VIP or with the media, and August 24 if you're one of us, the unwashed masses. The LGC exhibitions end August 27, so start hiking now.

What does video game publisher THQ have for their line-up for the LGC? We took THQ's (very long) press release and squeezed it for the goodies. Here's the short version for your reading pleasure:

Saints Row
For the Xbox 360 is this third-person open-world action/driving hybrid developed by THQ's Volition, Inc. You're a gang member with the 3rd Street Saints and you have to go up the gang ranks and eventually take over the city Stilwater. The game features character customization options and supports multiplayer mode through Xbox Live. Official release: Aug. 29 for North America; Sept. 1 for Europe.

Frontlines: Fuel of War
For the Xbox 360 and also for PS3 and Windows PC is this open-world infantry and vehicle first person shooter from THQ's Kaos Studios. In the near future, a global war for oil is being waged between the Western Coalition (US/NATO) and the Red Star Alliance (Russia/China). You'll play both sides of the battle. Official release: 2007.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007
For the PSP, Xbox 360, and PS2 is this 8th release in the THQ and JAKKS Pacific franchise. It features an analog control grappling system, new movesets, and an interactive fighting area within the crowd. There are updated rosters for Raw and SmackDown and an expanded General Manager Mode and online multiplayer game play with voice chat support. Official release: 2006 holiday season.

Disney-Pixar Cars
You race. Based on the movie. Official release: fall 2006 for Xbox 360 and Wii; all throughout this summer for PS2, Xbox, GameCube, GBA, PSP, DS, Windows PC, and Mac.

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Do your kung fu and explore the four Avatar nations. Official release: fall of 2006 for Wii, DS, PSP, PS2, GameCube, Xbox, GBA, and Windows PC.

THQ announced that it will be publishing and developing Nickelodeon games for the Nintendo DS. These kid-friendly games are based on the cable network Nickelodeon and have shipped more than 40 million units or their branded games worldwide. Some of the titles that are to be released include the extremely popular TV  shows:

• Spongebob Squarpants: Creature from the Krusty Krab - In a unique and creative twist, SpongeBob SquarePants explores the peculiar world of Bikini Bottom as it transforms through a series of various unique visual styles
• Avatar: The Last Airbender - You get to play Aang, Katara, Sokka and Haru as they grow into an unstoppable team utilizing the kung fu inspired bending arts through the Avatar universe
• Danny Phantom: Urban Jungle - A new, powerful eco-ghost turns Amity Park into a real urban jungle, and fans must play as Danny Phantom to learn an all new freeze power to defeat his evil nemesis
• Barnyard -  Players will be able to interact with all of their favorite characters from the movie while trying to prove they have what it takes to be the biggest party animal of them all.
• Nicktoons - The most popular Nickelodeon characters combine their unique weapons and powers to battle the newest, enemies threatening to destroy a mysterious Nicktoons paradise island.
• Unfabulous - Take on the role of Addie Singer as she navigates the hectic halls of Rocky Road Middle School and avoids becoming popularity roadkill.
  

They are also working on making Hand held versions of the entire 2006 Nickelodeon lineup.

The most devious plan ever created in a Nicktoons world is unfolding. Professor Calamitous has pulled together Plankton, Vlad, and Crocker to form a group known as The Evil Syndicate.

The wicked foursome have begun to wreak havoc throughout Retroville, Amity Park, Dimmsdale, and Bikini Bottom in an attempt to take over the world.

Not to be outsmarted, Jimmy Neutron calls upon his own band of Nicktoons. Jimmy, Timmy, Danny, and SpongeBob SquarePants combine their powers to take out The Evil Syndicate, along with the devastating Doomsday device. It's good versus evil where only one side will prevail.

Leading Australian game developer Tantalus Interactive today announced its new lineup of handheld products at the annual Australian Game Developer’s Conference (AGDC).

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger has now shipped worldwide on Nintendo’s DS platform. This title is the first from Tantalus on the DS, and the company is happy to announce that SpongeBob will also be released on Sony’s PlayStation Portable in the first quarter of 2006.

The Dirty Bubble has kidnapped SpongeBob's Favourite superheroes. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy! SpongeBob must fight back using the legendary powers of the Mermaid Man superhero belt and restore order in Bikini Bottom. Help him as he fights against the Dirty Bubble and his legions of evildoers.
