A few months ago, Electronic Arts promised a sequel to Skate (Xbox 360, PS3) that's set to be released next year. In the meantime, they're releasing a spin-off to the game for the Nintendo platforms, the Wii and the DS, to be released sometime this year.

Called Skate It, the game promises to be one very immersive skateboard game - for the Wii at least. The console version will be making use of Wii Fit's Balance Board, imagine that. You can play the game without it too, but what's the fun in that?

Both the Wii and Nintendo DS versions will have career progression as well as multiplayer modes. We'll keep you posted on Skate It updates when they come in. For now, here's the game's teaser trailer:
