The new DSi LL may have a few features that previous models don't, but about the only feature that really sticks out is that it's larger. We've seen portables get smaller and smaller, but here we have a handheld that deliberately put on some extra weight so that granma can get in on the young'uns' toys. Watch the info trailer right here.
It's an info trailer, but since it's all in Japanese, we really didn't get much of the info. We can get some idea through the video though. Release in Japan is on November 21st with a ¥ 20,000 price tag, which would be about US$ 220. Learn more about the DSi LL: |

no black color?..
» WTF!?!?!?!?!
I don't like my Black DSi as it is. But I mostly play at lunch time so I'm getting my dirty fingers all over it.
Even though I just bought my DSi I think I'll trade it in for this larger one. I like bigger screens. The bigger the better. Make a 7 inch iPhone and I would be in heaven! LOL
That is, if it ever reaches the US.

I get that many of us like the fact that the DS lite is so portable and easy to carry around, but the fact remains that there are or will be a growing number of gamers who are going to appreciate that slightly larger screen. I've got big hands, and I always preferred the size of the DS phat to the DS lite, but the screen clarity and brightness was so much better on the lite that there's not much reason to justify using the phat. But with this console, it looks like it'll fit easier into the hands of older players (and bigger guys), and it will be much easier to read for those that have problems seeing up close (be it presbyopia or another ocular dysfunction). I've had bifocals since I was 16, and sometimes playing the DS can be a bit of a challenge. Will blowing the screen up a little bit make all of that go away? No, but will it help? Sure. Oddly, hand-held game consoles are my favorites (they tend to remind me more of what I played when I was a teenager in the 8/16-bit era). I still have my lite if I want to carry it around, but this would kick a** for lying in bed and trying to get through some of those cool DS RPGs. I'm sure it's not a product for everyone, but a lot of you dudes in your late 30s, early 40s are hitting bifocal age, and you just may appreciate it a little faster than you might have otherwise thought. That's just my 2 cents, and I think it's something worth thinking about. And for the record, I'm only 32, but I'm well aware of some of the issues gamers my age will be facing in a short time.
