Shigeru Miyamoto nominated again for Time's 100 Most Influential Person - Image 1We just got word that Nintendo Senior Managing Director Shigeru Miyamoto has been nominated once again for Time's 100 Most Influential Person award. The guy was also nominated last year.

Anyway, we need not reiterate the value of Miyamoto in the video game industry as he credited for several franchises such as Mario, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda.

Aside from those, he is also responsible in his own way for revolutionizing the industry. Last we looked, Shigeru Miyamoto is currently on position 9 with an average rating of 65.

According to Time, one of his disadvantages is the health issues often connected with games. Time wrote:

Can he reverse gravity for all the obese, video game-playing kids out there? Miyamoto himself has said that the purpose of his Wii Fit game, with its balance board and full-body focus, isn't to make you fit, but "aware of your body."

Aware enough to go outside before atherosclerosis sets in?

If you want to see the list or know how can you make Shigeru Miyamoto win, just refer to our source link below. It should lead you to Time's current list of candidates for the award this 2008.

 » He deserves it.

That man is to videogames as Robert De Niro is to acting, as Zinedine Zidane is to football, and as Beethoven is to music. Their similarities? They are the most artistic and influential people of their kind.

I know it's only a Time magazine award, but it's the recognition that counts.

 » No, he doesn't

What did Miamoto really do? Create the most overused videogame characters ever? Characters that have little or no personality, many never speak a word, the stories make no sense. Oh, he also "invented" useless game accessories like Wii fit, although he relied on others' good ideas to make a bath scale into a commercial product.

There's far more people with a more significant impact on gaming than this guy.

Ralph Baer invented the home videogame console, for instance.

 » Overused?

@mister common sense
How are mario, zelda, and samus overused? If they were overused people would get bored of them and nintendo would have gotten bankrupt. But we all now that without halo the xbox would be nothing. I'm getting a 360 JUST to play halo, and probably nothing else. And what does sony have? God of War, nice.....

wow ur so retarded for one thing he single handedly brought gaming into a main Entertainment industry by his first simple fun game Donkey kong then when the industry barely even existed any longer his games for the NES brought the industry out of its demise hes so creative he thinks out of the box ur head is so far up your ass you cant even tell! Mario ha hes had more games than anyone right? well most are party games sports games and his main franchise which has had many franchise spinoffs Like Wario and yoshi and DK now yeah sure he has a game EVERY year but think about this: his games are always simple fun sports games etc but now look at square enix theyve got like 5 full fledged RPGs out every year....you really wish u had any idea what your talking about but sadly NO its unbelevable.........
