When was the last time you felt scared? Not just my-girl's-gonna-let-me-have-it scared, I'm talking soil-yourself-shamelessly scared. True enough, there might not be a video game out there that'll make you literally crap your pants, and it's far too impractical (and stupid) to find Leatherface to force your dinner down the backdoor. That said, let's just take a look at the things that come close.

For this offering of our weekly recap, we see a resurgence of all sorts in the gaming industry. Finally we see a PS3 kicking ass in the sales charts, finally we see another big homebrew breakthrough for the PSP, and finally, it looks like things are definitely looking up for the videogame world in general. It is certainly looking like it's gonna be a happy holidays we're having this year.

We're getting closer to the last ten QuickPeeks before we hit our first 100th issue! But before that, there's so much more to look back at in just this past week alone. The individual Warriors are all fired up, each of them having their fair share of controversies to address. From broken firmwares to debunked rumors of firmwares, broken street dates, and broken company reputations, we have them all right here, so just jump right in and dig in.

Another action-packed week for QJ with QuickPeek 88. Price cuts happened, hardware sales charts came out with their results, and developers and publishers alike came out once again from their magical gaming factories to hawk their wares at the PAX 2009 event held in Washington. Exciting past couple of weeks, eh? The price cuts mad rush continued on this week with Microsoft joining in on the bandwagon. Meanwhile, Nintendo's sitting prettily and quietly, choosing the status quo, because, hey, they're on top in the status quo. Wouldn't want to change a thing about that now, would you? It's also one event after the another, from E3 to GamesCom to upcoming PAX and TGS. If this does not revive interest in the industry, I don't know what will. This latter half of the calendar year is just bursting at the seams, and we've got a portion of all that action here in this nice little bundle for you stamped as QuickPeek 87.

GamesCom sure did not disappoint this week, although it did color our front page purple for the most part. No doubt about it, Sony ruled the spotlight this past week, and there's even no point saying otherwise. Fanboy or not, plain fact is that Sony was responsible for probably 80% of the gaming-related activity on the Internet this week. Time for that day of the week when you get all the biggest news and tidbits that came out the past weekend in QJ that you might have missed for one reason or another. There's a lot of GamesCom 2009 updates right here, nothing unusual about that given that the event opens next week. We also still have a healthy spate of rumors pertaining to the console price cuts, particularly because the NPD results are out, and it does look like it will take a mighty slash off the current prices to revitalize the scene. It may not have the same hoopla as E3 had, but the GamesCom sure is making the developers and publishers just as busy all the same. General Industry news is taking a back seat for this week, but that doesn't mean the gaming world was any less exciting. We've got a lot of hardware issues this week, actually, from missing PSP Go nubs to limited disc space, to the alarming drop in the numbers of said hardwares, we've got a busy hardware week in our hands.
