Those Konami whippersnappers!

Instead of coming out with Pro Evolution Volleyball 23 for the Nintendo DS, they've come out with the 6th iteration of some soccer game. Bumsfrikadelle uploaded a video of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 gameplay onto YouTube. It looks good, but as with any DS game, it's tough to take a video of both screens with enough picture quality to see the action.

Wondering what's on the bottom screen? Let's hope it's not some giant picture of Ronaldo staring us in the face for the whole game. Wondering where he got the video? Probably from the Leipzig Games Convention.

John terryNew Captain on the block John Terry of England is the cover boy for Pro Evolution Soccer 6. This will the second time (first was last year's Pro Evolution Soccer 5) he'll be gracing the cover.

Why him yeh ask mate? 2004-2005: scored 8 goals; voted Player of the Year by fellow England players; was also chosen as a member of World XI at the FIFPro Awards; and voted best defender of the UEFA Champions League tournament. An obvious choice. No doubt that he is considered as one of the more talented defenders in the world; winning a second consecutive league title and earning the England's Captain armband just recently.

Naturally, he'll be present during the marketing of the game as will be others like Adriano, Brazil's striker extraordinaire. Konami Digital seems serious in getting the right players to get for this game. But does he enjoy playing the game he's promoting? According to Terry, "No other game can touch Pro Evolution Soccer 6 in terms of realism. The way the players move on and off the ball is second to none..." That's coming from England's Team Captain.

In a couple of months, we'll see if it's what he says it is.

Adriano's Famous FaceKonami has announced that Adriano Leite Ribeiro will be "the face of" Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for the European market, appearing on the front of the game's retail packaging. Adriano is one of the most respected soccer players today, known for his tremendous pace and skill, making him arguably one of football’s most dangerous strikers. Konami is also bringing Adriano and the Pro Evolution Soccer series to new platforms for the first time. PES6 will not only release for PS2 and PC, but also PSP, Nintendo DS, and Xbox360, which will release in the autumn.

"I am really looking forward to working with Konami on what everyone knows to be the most realistic football game around", Adriano said. “Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is known worldwide for its quality and I am delighted to be associated with such a fine series".

"Adriano is rightly regarded as a player with skill, pace and passion – all key elements to success in Pro Evolution Soccer 6", commented Martin Schneider, European Marketing Director for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "We are very excited to be working with such a talent, and further new signings will be announced in the coming weeks."

This is a prime example of Konami's commitment to working with the best talents in soccer.

KonamiKonami Digital Entertainment today announced the latest sequel to the multi-million-selling series, Pro Evolution Soccer 6. This year, Konami will be taking Pro Evolution Soccer 6 to a number of new formats as demand for the much-loved football title continues to grow at a phenomenal pace. In addition to the customary PS2, PC and PSP versions of the game, Konami will also be releasing the first versions for Xbox 360 and Nintendo's DS handheld.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is abundant with new gameplay additions. Player AI has been massively upgraded, with players running intelligently into space when not in possession of the ball and pointing where they want the pass placed to continue the attack. Similarly, the physical side of play has been refined, with players working to turn a defender as they receive the ball, while defenders must learn to stand off slightly to prevent such moves.

Series creator Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka has also worked to refine the shooting system of the new game, and players will be able to attempt more snap shots than in previous versions, while volleys and half-volleys have been redesigned. Other new moves include the ability to retain control of the ball when sliding in to tackle, while all-new feints and backwards dribbling are now available thanks to the improved dribbling controls, while headers have been changed to allow players more movement in the way their strikers jump and head the ball.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 also has a number of new teams with the International roster now featuring the official kits for Argentina, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Sweden.

Other new additions include more balanced referees, and a selection of exciting new gameplay modes. An International Challenge involves leading your home country to victory through a series of entry and tournament rounds, while a Random mode lets the player play quick games within randomly-generated match day settings.

The much-loved Master League also returns, allowing players to experience the many highs and lows of steering a team through years of competitive games. Aging players, injuries and pressure from the board all combine to create a truly immersive game where results are everything. It will be shown for the first time on the Konami stand E3.

No screenshots have been revealed yet, but keep checking for updates at our E3 news page.
