Ó

Super MarioYou read that title correct. Nintendo has gone through hardware shortages with the DS. They've gone through the same hell with the DS Lite. They've gone through software shortages as well with this little system that could. Now, they're facing plastic shortages.

Instead of selling their DS games in their plastic covers, they're going back to the old cardboard covers they used to use with the Game Boy Advance. The new cases will be the same size as the plastic DS cases. They'll also have a small explanation saying that only the case is different and that everything else is the same. Those who desperately want a plastic one can call customer service and get it in late December.

The letter which spoke of these events was by the Nintendo of Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg) but there's a chance that it may reach other parts Europe as well. It might not stop there either, it may be a problem in North America and Japan.

The following games will be in cardboard boxes:

Super Mario 64 DS
Nintendogs Chihuahua & Friends
Nintendogs Dachshund & Friends
Nintendogs Labrador & Friends
Mario Kart DS
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Tetris DS
Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends
New Super Mario Bros.

So.....

They get damaged easier but thats about it. I am sure the people that buy loads of DS games have a holder for them anyway. At least it isn't a shortage of something really important.

Shouldn't use plastics anyways. Call me an eviromentalist but it's really a waste of petrolleum. They SHOULD use cardboard least that can get recycled

Who said plastic can't be recycled?

That was always one thing that disgusted me about Nintendo. The simple fact that they used cardboard boxes for there games for a very long time. I would admit that I was one of those care freaks that tried the best to my ability to take care of the cases on shelfs across the living room. Just will have to get those few games that I don't have on my list now to avoid tainting my DS Shelf collection with the almighty legendary box.

 » Actually...

#7, Recycling plastic takes Way more work to do than recycling paper. Also, plastic doesn't decompose/ takes a long time to decompose. Paper can decompose if you just left it in the forest or something. Just to let you know....

Anyways I'd still rather have plastic instead of boxes because i always broke my boxes (GBA Boxes) and I really liked collecting them sorta (like a hobby i guess). And I'd keep my games in the cases and leave it in my "LIBRARY OF GAMES", or LOG for short.....
atleast I'm not getting any new games until American Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. THose cases are shiny :).

Hopefully this doesn't become the norm for all DS games. Plastic cases are sooo much better. You can actually use them instead of having to worry about them getting crushed and damaged on you.

People like "hmm" make me want to go burn a tire.
