Nintendo confirms R4 DSi incompatibility - Image 1We've known about this for some time now, but now we get official confirmation from Nintendo that the DSi is indeed incompatible with the R4 flashcart.

Guess they're getting serious.

Nintendo didn't say whether this was an intentional modification of the handheld, but seeing as how they recently introduced a firmware update for the Wii that handicapped Wiibrew, it's entirely possible.

The news of the R4 incompatibility might be a redundant statement of fact, but it still feels ominous to know that Nintendo really might be cracking down hard on piracy, knowing that their measures might also cripple the respective homebrew communities.

Not that I'm worried for them though. After all, the Wiibrew community already found a temporary way around the firmware update, and the DSi was already reported to be hacked by a Japanese coder, who made a Hello World app for the handheld.

Not so sure about this one. A hack would be much easier and cheaper, if not even free to apply. But yeah, you're right, it's only a matter of time beofre this thing get's hacked.

I heard from a very good source that the Egde card can already play on the DSi. I'm just waiting for it to be confirmed so atm its a rumor. They also said homebrew can run from the front SD slot. All rumors but all sounding good.

there is always tons of DS people selling to get the new one.
Personally I don't care about *new* features DSi has. Since my 2 kids are all occupying my 2 DS ALL the time I want to get my own... but with DSi not working with R4 I might wanna see if there some other thing that works.... if not.. back to plan B
