Nintendo

Nintendo has this promotional tour called The Fusion Tour produced by Live Nation that has all kinds of entertainment around it, including live concerts. An emo-rock band called Hawthorne Heights will be one of the first headline bands to perform there. The odd thing is that if Nintendo really wants to get popular with the "mainstream gamer," is an emo band really the way to go? Sure there are other artists who will perform there, but it's still weird, because emo bands have a very specific reach. Look, it's even all over their official event site.

"Videogames are as important to the pop culture landscape as music," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "The Nintendo Fusion Tour has become a launching pad for the best in entertainment, from the hottest new bands to the best upcoming Nintendo products."

It all takes place between September 27 and November 11, and will go through around 40 US cities.

» I think we tightened the launch window

I think we really knew it was after september and before mid november. For all we know Wii launch will take place on november 11 and people will have huge demos of all launch games and maybe a few for next year. Or exclusive Wii sales before some else if the last concert is in new england i will check that out unless launch is before then i will hide in my room and lock the door. Personaly im looking forward for a hopeful end of October launch myself.

A) whoever posted the comment above me is an imbecile.
B) don't use HH as an example of ALL emo bands.
C) HH sucks.
D) i am a hardcore-ninty fan, and also a fan of true emo music.
E) if you think HH is emo, please go listen to Sunny Day Real Estate and Rites of Spring, REAL emo music.

» Why, what's wrong with the Emos?

They said they want to be a gaming company for everyone, not just gamers. So why shouldn't they include Emo in that?

If it was chav music you wouldn't have said a word about it.

Firstly, my first comment was directed toward the first guy

But, to Bob, the reason is that people have a generalized stereotipical view of the "emo" sub-culture, and think they have somewhat of an obligation to make fun of these "childish" teens and preteens, or so they are perceived.

People don't realize that the whiny baby emo culture that has come to define the term "emo" is not what emo really is.

» Wha Wha who?! Who gives a sh*t!!!

Who gives a sh*t about what music is being played and what audience its aiming toward! That ***** is ignorant/arrogant classing pple by what they listen to. Emo, punk, pop, rock, R&B, rap, merrengue, bachata, salsa, reaggeaton. Anyone can listen to any of those and not be the typical "emo", "thug", "spic" or "wigger". Sterotypes are stupid, but I guess if we wanna go there I must have a 12 inch c@ck. NO! 15! since I was raised in Africa I have jungle c@ck, or do I?!

Sterotypes are stupid, and so are the people who believe in them.

They aren't even emo. they are like pop.

What's wrong with nintendo doing a tour with bands? just because they aren't playing classic tunes from super mario world, it makes it wierd?

» I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself.

I'd go with my gf. She could listen to the music, I'd hit the Nintendo tent.

Now if only Nintendo had a promotional deal with the Unholy Alliance Tour...

 » What's wrong with HH?

Nothing wrong with HH... they're an excellent band imho. That being said however you definity can't be a typical pop-rock trend whore and still appreciate it. I'm guessing that generally 99% of the posters on this board would fit into that category... most of which are under 17. ;)

Drop the B.Spears and listen to some good punk rock ya bunch o' lamo's.

Fallout Boy isn't emo you dumbass, its just stupid pop like Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance or all that other crap you see on TV.

Emery is a pretty good band imho.

 » EMOS

I hate emos/goths! I have no respect for fake people, which is what most emos are. They think it's cool because all their friends do it (of course an emos friends are all emos, nobody else likes them), and they really have nothing to be sad about. And all the people who really are sad emos are just weak people who can't deal with the crap that comes up in life. Oh boo-hoo, my parents divorced, I'm going to wear all black clothes and cut my wrists and only hang out with other sad people because the world HATES ME. FU*K OFF emo kids, stop doing that weak-ass crap to your wrists and go all the way, you'll be doing us a favor.

 » Hm...

What's so bad about mainstream music? No, it's not my favorite, but everybody likes at least one mainstream song/band. Don't deny it. If you like it, listen to it, and don't be ashamed. And because I said it, you should obey! :)

Who gives a flip if something's mainstream, Emo, and whatnot?
