NSMBPreviously, we reported that New Super Mario Bros. sold about 480,000 copies in its first day. Yesterday, Nintendo had a conference in which they informed everyone that the game had sold over 900,000 in its first four days. This is an astronomical number. The only games to beat it in recent years are Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII, and Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green. Nintendo is also proud of the DS Lite which sold 950,000 units last month and Tetris DS which shipped 800,000 copies. We'll have full numbers for you in our weekly sales update on Thursday!

Today's announcement just brings great hope that Nintendo may do another 2D Mario soon. Hopefully we won't have to wait ten years this time!

I am not a fanboy you dumb ass. I even own this game. I know Halo 2 sold poorly in japan but that doesnt change the fact that it sold more copies. No one said anything about japan but you, Halo 2 had a PROFIT of over 125 MILLION DOLLARS on the first day of its release and the unit count was over 550 thousand copies. So next time you think about calling someone a fanboy how about you take a step back and put that title on your name tag, where it belongs?

My bad, I should have stated that it's 900,000 in Japan in the first four days. The official number is 899,518. I'll be updating that alongside hardware numbers. My graduation ceremony tomorow so I might not be home to update until late tomorow night or Friday morning.
