It seems Square Enix is dead set to surprise us with its next Nintendo DS title. No anorexic emo characters will plague Nanashi no Game (roughly translates to Nameless Game), which follows a mysterious game that can lead to the player's death in seven days.
Sound familiar? Not far from your average Japanese horror movie, but Nanashi no Game is a little bit special since it's not everyday we find Square Enix doing something like Hotel Dusk. As you'll see in the video below, the game is played with the DS vertical and the backdrop is nothing short of creepy. The game in Nanashi no Game, from what the official website can tell us, is also supposed to be on a virtual DS that your player comes across. With that premise comes antics to break the fourth wall, such as the protagonist suddenly playing an old-school RPG as if demonstrating how you're not relevant. While still in wraps, Japan will soon get a hold of Nanashi no Game come July 3. There's no telling if this intriguing title will ever reach the west, but we can at least watch its trailer for now. |
