Atari logo - Image 1Two years ago, Atari Europe was fortunately in the safe zone, despite the mother company's grim and disheartening financial report of Q2 2007.

Back then, the problem was isolated only to the US offices, and the Atari branch was said to be unharmed by the restructuring overseas. Today, however, Atari Europe is no more, now having been officially acquired by Namco Bandai.

The good thing about this, however, is that the staff have already been safely re-housed, with the sales and marketing staff moving in to the new Distribution Partners. This company will be the one handling all Namco Bandai products in Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. In fact, Distribution Partners is already looking to adding some more staff to their count.

It was March of 2008 when Namco Bandai first bought a 34% stake in Atari Europe. The remaining 66% will be turned over by parent company Infogrames next month.

Yes, it's true.
Sony officially bought Microsoft and now sells both the Xbox and the Playstation brand.

In other news: The takeover of EA is still being discussed. Square-Enix' offer of 100 Million $ is still too low for the multi-million leading game company.
