I can tell you that they arent getting them from wal-mart. After I saw the reports about the street date being broken, I called several wal-mart stores, ebgames, and Target stores. Only one store out of about 30 i called had any. Wal-Mart. I asked her to read me the box, and give me the price. She confirmed it was the DS Lite for $129.88. I told her that I was 1.5 hours away, and to hold it for me. I gave her my personal info, and started the journey. I was EXCITED. I get there, walk to the back to the elect. dept. I saw a cabinet stocked with the DS Lites. I almost freaked out. I went to the counter to get mine. The lady I had spoken to pulled my DS Lite from under the counter. She went to ring it up, and guess what ! "SELL NOT ALLOWED". She hadnt ever seen this, but I already knew what it meant. She tried a few other things. No GO ! I was already pissing all over the place. I was mad as hells fury. I told her to ring up one of the other DS packages since they were the same price. I almost had her convinced, then she said she'd have to call a manager first. Manager shows up. He explains the mix-up. I explain how I just drove 70+ miles on the employees word that she had it ready to sale. I gave the manager the "what for" and explained I'd be filing a complaint with their home office, and the Better Business Bureau. Not because he wouldnt sale it to me, but because their ignorance costed me 140+ miles driving. A WASTE ! So.. that's my story. While I was standing there doing my best not to strangle the manager, two employees came and removed 30+ DS Lites from their shelves. It took all my power not to snatch one ! lol.

I cant wait, I mean I've been waiting for one since they came to Japan. However, if anyone REALLY has bought one from Target or Wal-Mart, Nintendo will find out, and the seller will face hefty hefty fines. This is why I think its all a hoax. Yes I dont doubt that they have them in the cases, bc often times the people who work at said retailers are ignorant when it comes to anything electronic or store policy...(I know this because my girlfriend works at Wal-Mart, and I they are raving morons over there) Therefore, if you have recieved your DS Lite early you lucky lucky sobs. I envy you, however the person who sold it to you may no longer be working there......these places really dont want to pay hefty fines you see.

but not as bad as F34R's experience. I called and they said they had around 30 of them. I asked them to hold one for me and he told me "first come first serve". So I was there 5 minutes later for them to tell me they can't sell it to me. I only wasted 10 miles of driving, sorry to hear that though F34R.

We got our shipment of DS lites in today at my walmart but it said, do not display until June 11th. I'm pretty sure the other walmarts got theirs as well and people were just too dumb to read the box's release date.

Its good to hear that some Wal-Mart associates arent completely useless, and they can read. LOL
One of the biggest problem with Wal-Mart is communication...
Managers dont communicate with associates, and then associates dont have the correct information to tell customers........ Then again some managers just flat out do whatever the heck they want.
That darn fascist Wal-mart!

i went to target at around noon. they told me they had not recieved a shipment yet, and could not break the release date or else be fined.
i wasted $2 in gas to go to the store, i guess i could have called but i wanted to try to convince the clerk if they had them in the back to sell me one pronto. sucks

I work at target and we have several ds lites in stock. we are not allowed to sell them until the 11th - we accidentally sold one yesterday -- funny thing is the one we sold had a dead pixel so the dude came back and we exchanged it for him too >

I managed to get one. I bought it at Sears on June, 1st in Portland, OR. Although I used the sears.com merchandise pickup hole, which they have now closed.
The DS Lite is smaller than I imagined based on the images and videos I saw. The clarity and vibrancy of the screens are well worth the risk I took at Sears!
The wrist strap is not included in the US version; but this small detail cannot possibly change how happy I am to have a DS Lite 10 days before most everyone else in the USA.
