R4 cartridges not working with the DSi? Big whoop. Looks like Nintendo's efforts to block out flashcarts from the DSi is proving fruitless. Remember Yasu, the guy who said he already hacked the handheld? He released a "Hello World" video some time ago as proof.

If that wasn't enough for you though, how about this one? A video of him playing the homebrew game Pop'n DS.

Now if you're wondering whether this hack can run flashcarts, don't get your hopes up. Word is, the game is running on a save game exploit, which can't be used to run *ehem* backups on your flashcarts. This hack only plays homebrew. Unfortunately, since it's only a save game exploit, it could also be easily patchable by Nintendo.

"Word is, the game is running on a save game exploit"

Care to explain how that'd even be possible? You can't write custom data to a save game unless you have a flash cart that works.

I remember it was a TIFF exploit or similar, i think it is a mistake. And how Nintendo could patch that? Have it the option for firmware upgrade?
