Kirby: MOuse Attack for the DS - Image 1We've been enjoying Kirby: Squeak Squad for some time now (in these shores and Japan), but the folks in Europe will be glad to know that the pink blob will finally be coming to their doorsteps in a few weeks.

Known as Kirby: Mouse Attack in Europe, the Nintendo DS video game features Kirby of course, going against a horde of bad mice that calls itself the Squeak Squad. Players basically help Kirby to save his, er, strawberry shortcake from the hands of the evil mice in 50 levels set in 8 worlds. Then there's the power ups you can use to freeze water or burn trees.

Anyway, European gamers can watch out for the release of Flagship Studios' Kirby: Mouse Attack on June 22.

Capcom set to dissolve subsidiary developer Flagship - Image 1The developer Flagship is going to be liquidated and merged with Capcom this June 1 (this is not the Flagship Studios that developed Hellgate: London). This is in keeping with the streamlining of Capcom's operations which began with the merger and liquidation of two other studios: Clover Studio and Studio 8.

Flagship, which was established in 1997, is responsible for games such as The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, and Kirby Squeak Squad. However, the employees of the company will not be canned, because they will still be working for Capcom "in the same capacities."

So how will this streamlining affect the game developer? It's still uncertain, but we can expect their investors to be happy with the efforts the company is doing to increase their profit margin.

As you guys have probably noticed, every now and then we feature YouTube sightings of anything remotely related to your favorite games and/or gaming in general. Why? Well, let's face it. Goodies for some games are REALLY hard to come by, and we have to go to great lengths to score some, OR resign to scouring the internet (albeit thoroughly if I might add) for that teeny chance of coming across something that's attention-worthy.

And so today we bring you yet another YouTube vid of a TV commercial for the American version of Kirby Squeak Squad. Yeah yeah, we know it's already been released, and you don't need no TV ad to actually see the game.

But take into consideration those who haven't gotten the game yet and are still pondering whether to grab a copy. This might actually help them decide, don't you think? And besides, we brought you guys the Japanese commercial so might as well bring you the American one, right? So with that, we bring you the U.S. commercial (posted by majkeld) for the adorable pink guy, Kirby. Enjoy!

Kirby's more macho than ever

Now, with a game called Kirby: Squeak Squad, you know you can never go wrong. First, there's its oh so macho title that reeks alpha male goodness. Then there's Kirby itself, a little pink blob of sunshine that SUCKS things 'till kingdom come. I mean, come on, you can't get any manlier than that, right?

Well apparently, there's still room for improvement. Nick pointed out to our source that the North American release show a leaner, meaner Kirby. Compare and contrast it with the Japan release, and you can see that the US box art features one tough Kirby on the cover. One quick look at the little pink ball and you can tell that yep, Kirby does means business. Why, anyone would shiver in terror just staring at it all being kickass-like.

HAL Laboratory's DS game has been released in Japan last November 2, while North American fans can look forward to this game on the 4th of December. It features a multiplayer option (up to four players to be exact), power mixing (basically, you can mix and match abilities here), and a fun environment where you can burn trees and freeze water.

For those of you who were a bit put off by Kirby: Canvas Curse's control mechanics, then the pink ball of fluff's second DS outing might appeal more to your tastes. Yes, it's more of a standard platformer than its predecessor, but Kirby fans (like us) will no doubt jump at the chance to get their hands on a brand new game featuring Nintendo's pink fluffy enemy-eating ball of cuteness, and what better way to whet fans' appetite than with a video?

Yes folks, we have a video of the Japanese commercial for Kirby Squeak Squad, the latest installment in Nintendo and HAL's Kirby franchise. See Kirby eat incoming enemies, tunnel through the earth, get shot out of a cannon, and turn into a pink tornado of doom. Whew! No wonder the poor guy looks so tuckered out by the end of the video (aw, the little guy's dreaming of food!). Check out the video below and enjoy, folks.

Famitsu whets our DS appetite with another bunch of magazine scans for future DS titles courtesy of Cubed3. These scans include titles such as Itadaki Street DS, Custom Robo Arena, Prof. Layton, and Kirby Squeak Squad. Funny, all we can really do is hope that these titles will get international release, as they look awesome. Custom Robo Arena, for instance gets the most raves for its features: multiplayer with the Wi-Fi Connection, multi-card play, and download play. Itadaki Street, on the other hand, remains a popular title as it's the latest DS offshoot for the Square Enix franchise.

More info about these DS titles will be revealed so keep up with the updates here at QJ.

Just what exactly can a pink blob of doom do? Well this YouTube video we found shows off the various powers that this pink puff can get, right after he eats the things that gets in his way.

The video is a montage of scenes from Nintendo and HAL America Inc's Kirby Squeak Squad. See Kirby fly. See Kirby smash things with a hammer. See Kirby throw bombs. See Kirby do kung-fu. After watching about a minute of this clip you'll swear that Kirby is dead-set to smash/fry/eat anything that could possibly be cuter than he is.

I feel sorry for that blue fat pirate-rat boss. He got pwned. So much for the Squeak Squad.

boxartNintendo has opened the Japanese Kirby Squeak Squad (entitled Hoshi no Kirby Sanjô! Droche-dan in Japan) website, with a whole lot of small Flash gameplay vids, as well as screens, of the adorable pink regurgitator in action.

The site also includes the game's characters' profiles and stays true to the game's kiddie-giddy-vibrant mood. It's a Japanese site, so us Jap-illiterate folks can only speculate what they're actually saying, but everything's looking good. Also, some parts of the site are still under construction, but the videos and screens are now available for viewing.

Kirby Squeak Squad is scheduled for release November 2 for Japan, and December 4 for the US.

Yep, here's another video helping of our lovable pink regurgitator Kirby, as seen starring in his own game, Kirby Squeak Squad for the Nintendo DS. Here, we can see how gameplay will occur and how the player will be able to control Kirby as he plays a small game of bump cars in this particular scene.

Kirby is a popular Nintendo character whose ability is basically to swallow things, copy the ability of whatever he ate, and then use it against his enemies. This time around, Kirby is up against the rats known as the Squeak Squad with its leader Dorocche, his henchmen Spin, Strong, and Doc and their lovable minions the Chuurin.

Kirby Squeak Squad is slated for release by November 2 in Japan, and will be available in the U.S.A. by December 4.

Kirby Squeak Squad is bouncing and flapping its way out of HAL Laboratory. And we've got the screenshots to prove it. For those not familiar with the game or the bouncy pink creature, there's the gameplay video in a previous post. Here's more about the game (many of you might already know this):
  • multiplayer: up to 4 players in a sub-game mode (Multi-Card or DS Download Play over DS Local Area Network)
  • power mixing: players can mix and match abilities by dragging them together using Kirby's copy center (you can see it in the touch screen images)
  • Kirby wants cake: if someone steals strawberry shortcake, Kirby goes after them and learns new skills
  • fun with the environment: burn trees and plants with Fire and freeze water with Ice
  • release: for the Nintendo DS on December 4; the game is ESRB rated "P" for "Pink" (just kidding; the game's not rated yet but we seriously doubt the rating people will find anything too nasty)
And now, here are the newest screenshots:
