Japan: PSP sells more than other consoles combined - Image 1Here's something for the records: the PlayStation Portable sold more than every other console combined in Japan for the week ending on September 23. This says a lot, considering Japan has so far gone for the Nintendo DS and the Wii.

The success of the handheld was no doubt boosted by the release of the PSP Slim and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, which incidentally also topped the Japanese charts for games. This marks the second week in a row that both the console and the game has reigned on Japan's best sellers.

The PSP sold 277,794 units that week, with the DS in second place with 70,523 units, and the Wii in third with 24,992 units. The PS2 is in fourth place (11,373 units) and the PS3 on fifth (10,732 units). Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII reigning supreme with 109,000 units sold that week with Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus in second with 93,000 units.

somebody delete his account for spaming.

 » OMG

If it's not spamming his rip off ebay service or
flaming others, it's first posting blogs with no
statement about the blogs topic.

His name shouldn't be "Iam", it should be "Flame ON!"

 » lol

wicked insider, I think you have a fetish for accusing people falsely. For the third time, it's not MY auction! I'm promoting some dude's auction because he pays you for directing customers to him! all I'm doing is using my freedom of speech to get him customers. I mean, I can tell people to try out http://stores.ebay.com/PSP-Unbricker

and to tell people to tell him that YOUAREPWNED sent you.

This is america, not whatever oppressive country you're from, Wicked Insider. Also, it's perfectly legal to say "first". Almost every article has a "First!" poster. I think you're just jealous that I hold the guiness's world record of "most first posts on QJ" with a record of 4 first posts in a row!

Also, I'm not registered, so my "account" can't be deleted :P

Furthermore, i like the concept of "flame on", but usually I try not to flame. And I realized that this is actually TROLL bait, not flame bait. Flame bait is where I say something rude. Troll bait is where i say something annoying. Furthermore, if I make an account, a fascist moderator might delete it. Thus, I prefer to stay unregistered. As it says, I am unregistered (I just can't put spaces, so it says lam(unregistered) for some reason )

 » So predictable

Japanese are such pawns... their buying habits are so predictable anyone could have forecasted this.

If you want evidence of this fact, just check out the online Square Enix Store some time and look at the prices.

SE could have released "FF7: The Porno" and it would be at the top of the Japanese charts next week.

 » Actually

You know whats predictable is your mentally inept brain.

The fact is The slim PSP is attracting more people and the FF7 Crisis Core is quite possible the best FF game on the PSP right now, and the best PSP game right now. Just wait for God of War Chains of Olympus and KH Birth by Sleep You will see the records sales him over the current ones here.
Good going PSP i hope you continue your great selling.

Japanese are sooo predictable, not like America! ...by the way have you picked up halo 3 yet?

   Re: Wicked_Insider - 2007-09-28
 » LOL

Yeah the Japanese are predictable when it comes to FF7 as much as we are predictable about Halo 3.

 » predictable

LOL, for once I'm NOT gonna promote that one guy's ebay site (the one at http://stores.ebay.com/PSP-Unbricker )

Instead, I'd like to point out that we ARE predictable at "our" obsessions with Halo 3:

I'ma gonna say this piece of garbage will sell for $12,000 by the time it's over.

 » This is great

PSP and its games outselling the DS?? Who would have thought :)

I'm glad PSP slim has got off to a great start. I hope it can sustain these figures, especially outside Japan and encourage developers to make more original titles for the system.

 » Wow

Got to admit, I knew it would boost the PSP a lot, but I didnt expect Crisis Core to make it outdo the DS by so much.
