Nintendo does have a lot of celebrating to do cos the past couple of years have been really good for them. Not only did their gaming consoles (DS and Wii) give them much source of pride -- and profit -- they have also been just recognized as one of the world's most reputable companies, landing in at an impressive #6.

Forbes List - Image 1

The list was published by Forbes via the Reputation Institute, and reflected essentially the most popular companies in town. With the monthly hardware and sales figures coming out with either a DS or a Wii on top, save for a couple of exceptional months which went to the PS3, it's no surprise that Nintendo would be comfortably seated at the front row.

After all, the Wii holds a record of50.39 million units sold from its launch in late 2008. Meanwhile, the DS so far has sold 101.78 million units to date. Therefore, for the year 2008 alone, Nintendo took home a staggering 1.8 trillion yen (around US$ 18.5 billion) in net sales, earning them an annual income of 279 billion.

If you're looking for Microsoft and Sony on the list, don't worry, they're there too, albeit at a pretty distant spot from Nintendo (with a Computer Industry category). Microsoft is at #30 (Computer), while Sony, for some odd reason is at #126, under the category of Electrical & Electronics.

Other notable bigwigs that were overtaken by Nintendo would be Walt Disney, Pepsi and Apple (at #52). You can check out the rest of the link by clicking on the Source below.
