Famitsu's top 25 games for 2007: Phantom Hourglass leads

Famitsu, who recently just released its results for Japan's top video games as voted by gamers themselves, does it again by releasing their own top list of games, this time as rated by their own editors.

The rankings are based on ratings that are determined by four editors. Each editor gives the games a score out 40. With the tallying of scores, a Nintendo DS game leads the pack, with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on top.

Interestingly enough, almost half of the list is dominated by Xbox 360 games (or their corresponding version), so it's a bit of a shame that the Xbox 360 is trailing behind in Japan's hardware charts.

Stranger still is that the list only has one Wii game, which is surprising considering that the console is extremely popular in Japan. But anyway, here are Famitsu's top 25 games for the year of 2007:

PH on top?! What an overrate piece of trash.

What a weird list.

At least they have God of War II in the top 10. Thank goodness for some taste!

No surprise PH is on there, I'm a die hard Zelda fan but I really didn't like the formula in PH but almost every gamer I know is (was) madly in love with it.

I agree with the list. Except for Halo 3, that game was poor. Compared to the greatness that was the first Halo and Marathon too. Don't agree with God of War either (talk about repetitive and recycled).

Is there any reason why the multiplatform 360 games are always higher rated than the PS3 versions? From what I see, the only exception is World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008.

Just want to know why, this should be no flame nor fanboy comment...

Assain's Creed 360 version is on the list, but the ps3 version isn't, that's just BULSH*T! Btw, i don't support Microsoft or Sony, i like ps3 more, cuz it's better, in my opinion.

Easy. On an Xbox I can message my friends from within the game (if I so wish), I can play custom soundtracks and have achievements.

The PS3 version are mostly like last gen games in there is no in game UI. No outside expansion of ingame achievements. Plus when I've seen PS3 and 360 games compared side by side the 360 usually has sharper textures and doesn't suffer some kind of colour washout. Plus the 360 controller is much better for long term gaming as its a lot comfier.

If a game is multiplatform I'll buy it for PC. If not then it's 360. PS3 for exclusives only.

I agree with your XBOX controller opinion....Why did Sony choose to re-use the same controller for over 10 years (of course it had minor alterations)....just baffles me.
