Despite making poor Cooking Mama look like a bloodthirsty butcher, PETA still loves Mama. Even so, Joel Bartlett of PETA is asking the cooking guru to, "Pledge to be veg for 30 days." Why Mama?!? This is what's on the mind of many fans of Cooking Mama (DS and Wii) as they find that the adorable cookin'-loving Mama has become the unwitting recipient of animal rights group PETA's rage. Why? Cos she serves dishes with meat.

Majesco Games just announced that the Cooking Mama franchise has sold 1.6 million units. The original Cooking Mama for the Nintendo DS, joined by its sequels Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends and Cooking Mama: Cook Off for the Nintendo Wii proved that a unique concept coupled with innovative controls do wonders. After crunching some numbers, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has predicted good profitability for Majesco Entertainment in its coming fiscal year. Much of its previous success was owed to its popular series Cooking Mama for both the DS and Wii platforms and is expected to push the company into a good financial state this 2008.

We've got another batch of screenshots from Majesco Entertainment's upcoming video game for the Nintendo DS, Cooking Mama 2: Cooking with Friends. In addition to the usual things around the kitchen, the screenshots show a number of additions to the game, like dressing up Mama and having the "friends" taste test your virtual food.

All the major gaming companies just can't wait to show their stuff at this year's Tokyo Game Show, and Taito is no exception. Seeing the popularity of the DS in the Japanese gaming market, they decided to go for broke and concentrate their entire line-up of games on Nintendo's marvelous little handheld.

Throwing in a mix of sequels, old-school remakes and some brand spanking new hat tricks, Taito's line-up includes: Cooking Mama 2: Cooking with Friends, Exit DS, Arkanoid DS (along with its special paddle controller), The Legend of Kage 2, Pet Shop Monogatari DS, and Space Invaders Extreme.

Older gamers will definitely enjoy the nostalgic feel their remakes deliver after finally stepping up after all these years in gaming hibernation. Those unfortunate enough to remain landlocked, however, will have to wait for those games to arrive on your respective shores.

Now that Cooking Mama is serving seconds, it seems that she now has a taste test crew to grade your virtual cooking. If you get high praise from the panel of judges, you get new recipes and a "cute present". Reportedly, you can decorate completed dishes just like in the first game, plus you'll be able to record all the dishes you've made in a diary.
