Atelier Iris for the DS

Gust Co.'s Japanese RPG will finally be making its way to your Nintendo DS soon, and to back it all up, the official Atelier Iris website has finally opened!

Though not much is known about this game, but the website states that the game will be sold for 5040 Yen or around $43. It also has page which contains short character profiles, a synopsis, and a page which features the game system. Another page has been set aside, which has been labeled as "Special". This may be filled in later on with perhaps game secrets and other such things after the game has been released. In the meantime, it may be a good idea to drop by the site, especially if you can read Japanese. If not, there's still the pretty pictures.

New scans for the games announced earlier, Atelier Iris and Infinite Undiscovery, have surfaced. The problem is we don't know anything about these games at all. For now, these scans are just a showcase of artwork and screenshots for the two games. The two on the left are for the Atelier Iris game for the DS while the two on the right are for Infinite Undiscovery for the Xbox 360.

The original Atelier Iris was on the PlayStation2. This game will be on the DS and is being developed by Gust. It's likely to be published by Nippon Ichi Software. Infinite Undiscovery is a brand new franchise for the Xbox 360. It's an RPG game developed by Tri-Ace. That's all that is currently known. However, Xbox 360 fans are probably excited that they're finally getting a lot of JRPGs for the system! There are many people thinking of getting a PS3 because the 360 is lacking in JRPGs. Games like Infinite Undiscovery might help change their minds.

Atelier IrisAlchemy, magic, and kicking ass. In essence, that is what Atelier Iris, from Japanese developer Gust, was all about. It was one of the more enjoyable PS2 RPG series in recent years, thanks largely to its item creation system that allowed players to synthesize items and equipment to gain additional abilities and powers.

Now the word is out that Gust will be adding a DS entry to the Atelier Iris series. While this has been confirmed by Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, additional details regarding the game as well as a release date are yet to be announced.

Fans of the Atelier Iris series will surely get a kick out of this new DS game. Atelier Iris's 2D sprite graphics look like a perfect match for the DS, and we're interested in what new gameplay features the DS's touch screen will bring to the series. Here's hoping that NIS America will also bring this game to US shores.
